The 7 Hanging Valleys Trail stretches for 5.7km over the cliffs between Marinha Beach and Vale de Centianes Beach. During the hike, you can visit one of the most beautiful caves in the world, the Algar de Benagil.
The route, located in the municipality of Lagoa, in the Algarve, can be started at Praia da Marinha or, at the opposite end, at Praia de Vale de Centianes, and extends for 5.7km over the cliffs that surround the coast.
The round trip has an average duration of 6 hours and it is advisable to do it in the intermediate seasons (spring and autumn) to avoid extreme temperatures or rain. If you still want to take the opportunity to get to know the route in summer, then it is advisable to start the hike very early in the morning to enjoy the cooler temperatures.
Along the way, you will find 7 hanging valleys that were once the mouths of water courses. The landscape is extraordinary from beginning to end: the strong blue and crystal clear waters that bathe the Algarve coast accompany the route, and the tranquility you feel when walking in the middle of that scenery is priceless.
Some of the highlights along the route are the Alfanzina Lighthouse (which can be visited on Wednesdays), the Algar de Benagil (one of the most visited caves in this area of the Algarve and already considered one of the most beautiful in the world) and Marinha beach.
