As a sign of its charm, the capital of Fado, rises between the hills and there are dozens of viewpoints that make the panoramic view of the city a privileged place for those looking for a quiet spot for sunset
To celebrate the beginning of summer, Spotahome gathered the viewpoints with the best view over Lisbon and the Tagus River:
- Miradouro das Portas do Sol - The streets of Alfama are characterized by fado, street markets and handicrafts. This former fishermen's quarter, one of the most popular areas of the city, is full of restaurants, hillsides, and steep streets on the hill of the São Jorge Castle. Among these attractions is this viewpoint, one of the best known in Lisbon, with a perfect view and a must for any tourist or even alfacinha.
- Miradouro de Santa Luzia - Like so many other Portuguese cities, Lisbon has tiles everywhere and on one of the walls of this viewpoint there are tiles full of history, with images representing the earthquake of 1755. It is also located in Alfama and next to the church it is common to find painters and musicians spending the afternoon there. In this that is one of the best places in the capital, for lovers of flowers, the bougainvilleas add to the beauty experience.
- Miradouro da Graça - The official name is Miradouro da Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, in honor of the poetess and, in this case, the evocation of the name is aligned with the beauty of the viewpoint. Very close to the castle, this is one of the highest points in the capital and also one of the most popular. The view of the city is as complete as it is imposing. It is one of the places of choice for Portuguese students who want to watch the sunset over the Tagus.
- Elevador de Santa Justa - Also known as the Carmo elevator, this links the Baixa Pombalina and Chiado neighborhoods. Opened in the early 20th century, this neo-Gothic elevator is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city. It is not overly expensive and is worth it just for the view of the city center.
- Miradouro de Santa Catarina - Another option to see the city from a high point, you reach this place via the Bica elevator and not only is the panoramic view unbeatable but it is also one of the most popular places in the capital. This place frequented by young people from all over the world is a frequent spot for street artists who fill the city with music, painting and dancing.
Whether during the day, the night, or the late afternoon, all these places showcase all the most beautiful things that the city of Lisbon has to offer.
